PurpleSlurple lets you add anchors where they are lacking for better linking

this is an interesting find I came across awhile ago. It is purpleslurple, a service for adding anchor text to pages you do not control.

What? and why does it matter?

Ok. So let’s say you want to link to paragraph 25 of some bloke’s 4,000 word rambling. (and not make your readers have to read thru the whole thing)
Normally if the html of his page does not have anchor text their you can’t.

But PurpleSlurple puts anchor text there that you can link to.

If you didn’t understand that sorry, this is a tech-nerd thing.

A good example for the non tech-nerd (actually for all) is that of the Bible. The Bible is not a small tome, yet I can zero you in on a specific passage easily; e.g., Genesis 1:1.

This is precisely what PurpleSlurple facilitates.

    Hi Matt,
Thanks for the comment. That is a great analogy for what PurpleSlurple does (i.e. facilitates precise citations.)

And it is a genius idea, by the way, so we owe you one ;-)
