Flash makes my small business look more professional = Common misconception
As a minimalist-loving web developer nothing gets my eyes rolling faster than a small business that “has to have” flash animation on its website.
Please! read http://flashsucks.org/
It is a common misconception that small business people have that adding Flash to your website makes it look more professional, “snazzier,” etc.
The facts show another story. Search engines like, Google (you know, that place you want your site to show up on), for the most part cannot “see” (index) your flash content.
That means that it is invisible to Google, that means you are invisible to Google, that means you are invisible on Google, that means you are invisible to customers, that means NOT GOOD!
And that is just one of many reasons to leave it alone.
Flash is often used to create impersonal and slow-loading useless fluff.
Instead why not put up some pictures of you and your staff; show customers that your business is run by *gasp* HUMANS!
